Course Syllabus
Year 1: Basic Mechanics & Systems
The first year focuses on workshop safety, fundamental tools, basic engines, and electrical systems.
- Occupational Safety & Health: First aid, safe handling of hazardous materials, and use of various fire extinguishers.
- Workshop Tools & Practices: Proper use of micrometers, vernier calipers, wrenches, power tools, and basic fitting operations (drilling, filing, tapping).
- Engine Components & Systems: Fundamentals of two-stroke and four-stroke engines (Petrol & Diesel), valve timing, lubrication, and cooling systems.
- Fuel Systems: Carburetors, Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPFI), and Common Rail Diesel Injection (CRDI).
- Electrical System: Batteries, alternators, starter motors, wiring harnesses, and basic lighting circuits
Year 2: Advanced Mechanics & Diagnostics
The second year covers the heavy-duty transmission, suspension, and advanced computerized diagnostic systems. [1, 2]
- Transmission Systems: Clutches, manual gearboxes, synchromesh units, propeller shafts, differentials, and automatic transmissions.
- Chassis & Suspension: Steering gearboxes, shock absorbers, leaf/coil springs, and braking systems (including ABS and air brakes).
- Wheel Alignment & Balancing: Procedures for checking and adjusting caster, camber, toe-in, and toe-out.
- Vehicle Air Conditioning: Servicing and troubleshooting AC compressors, condensers, and climate control systems.
- Advanced Diagnostics: Using On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-II), Electronic Control Unit (ECU) scanning, and troubleshooting hybrid/electric vehicle basics.
